3 Steps for New Christians Who Didn’t Grow Up in Church

You have decided to become a Christian and look forward to learning more about your new faith. There are probably many questions swirling around in your head, and you may not be sure where to find the answers. This guide will point you in the right direction. By following these three steps, you’ll start your Christian life on a solid foundation.

Read the Bible

The first thing you want to do is buy a Bible at your local bookstore or online. Start with a translation that is easy to read like The New Living or The Message. The Bible is the word of God and teaches you all about Him and how He interacts with people. Take the time to get away by yourself each day to read the Bible and think about what it says. A good starting point is the book of John in the New Testament to learn more about Jesus and His ministry on earth.

Find a Church Home

You probably have several churches near you and may wonder how to decide which one to attend. Look each one up on the internet and narrow down your search to those who preach that the Bible is the word of God and the guide for our lives. Then start visiting the churches on your list. You will know which one is the right place for you.

Attend Bible Study

Your new church will offer several Bible Study options for you, from a class before the church service on Sunday morning to weekday evening studies held in the home of other church members or at the church. Attending one of these group sessions will help you learn more about Christianity and form friendships with other Christians.

Getting a Bible, finding a church home and attending a Bible Study are the first steps to take to grow in your new faith.
